How does GDP spending in health change as a country switches to a national health care system?

I’m researching and am able to find lots of information comparing different countries and how much they spend on health care within their total GDP. However I can’t find information of how GDP changes within one single country such as France or Canada, when they switched from their old health care system to a universal health care system? Does GDP in this area decrease or increase.

goes up as both neither patients nor doctors are interested in keeping costs down
