What is a good skin firming/anti aging face cream?

August 30, 2009 - 5:15 pm 3 Comments

I am 22, almost 23, and when I was younger, I was out in the sun and never wore sunscreen. I know I will have some long term affects, such as wrinkles, and now that I am older, I want to try to take better care of my skin and keep it looking younger.

So what are some good anti aging skin firming creams that are good to use long term?

I watched the Insider the other day and they were doing a whole show about how Hollywood stars get their skin in shape and ready for red carpet events. They had a dermatologist who was inside a CVS pharmacy picking out some cheaper alternatives to much higher-priced, high-end creams that the stars use. She was profiling stars by age and said that in your 20s a good pick is Lumene Energy Cocktail which is a dupe for some $95 dollar cream that I completely forget the name of now. I am totally adding it to my shopping list. I have already discovered Lumene and have had great results from their products. Truly a top-quality brand :)

What diet/fitness plan should i stick with to lose my tummy/muffin top in a month?

August 30, 2009 - 5:15 pm 5 Comments

I am 14 so i’m not planning buying some diet books or fitness videos.
I am very busy but I can certaily take some cycling/yoga/pilates classes if this will help.
I’m not planning on looking perfect in one month… just better.
I am 5′2 and have no hips so its important to make my waist and abdonimal thinner and i hope to lose 5 pounds doing it.

I will pick a best answer…
Thank you!

Hey there! diet and nutrition are going to be quite huge for you, if you don’t have a ton of time for the gym/working out. Although, allowing adequate time for both would be super ideal.

I think the best way to shave off body-fat is intervals. You can learn about them here: http://www.swolefitness.com/fitness-articles/losing-weight/get-shredded-with-interval-cardio-training/

You could also check out jump roping. It’s also a super solid, and fun way to crank up the intensity, and lose weight. There’s an article about it here: http://www.swolefitness.com/fitness-articles/losing-weight/cardio-jump-roping-for-woman/

Anyways, with a little persistence, you’ll go so far! Just stay consistent and keep with it! Best of luck!

What is the difference between Health Insurance and Health care Program?

August 30, 2009 - 5:15 pm 2 Comments

Is it OK to have just the health care program and not have the Health Insurance Plan? I can get Health care program for half the monthly premium as compared to the Health Insurance Plan. Please advise? Is it advisable?

You don’t say what country you are in, your age, or anything much else.

It doesn’t matter what these are called. You have to compare:

What doctors you can see (any doctor? one in their network?)
What kind of doctor you can see (do you have to go to a primary care physician first, before you can see a specialist?)
Whether hospitalization is covered
What is the deductible (the amount out of pocket before they pay anything each year)
What is the co-pay (the amount you pay each time you use the insurance)
How likely are you to use the benefits?

Then make up a situation - you fall off a bike and break your arm, or you catch something serious. Figure out how you will benefit from each plan. If you live in states, check out this site to find the cheapest health insurance just in one minute,

Is HGH tested for in your blood for the military?

August 30, 2009 - 5:15 pm 2 Comments

I’ve been thinking about taking HGH so I can get bigger and stronger before basic training! Do they test for this in your blood?

Do they test normally, no. But they could if they had reason to think you were using it. Testing everybody would be too expensive. On your entry questionnaire you were asked if you have ever illegally used anabolic steroids (HGH counts). Based on your age (I’m guessing 18-24) you have no legitimate medical need for hormone replacement. If you did, you would not qualify for military service. Any hormone if used without proper medical supervision can cause severe long term problems. You’re body is still changing too much. They should not be considered until you are at least in your mid 20’s and after you do a considerable amount of research. Don’t try to find a "quick fix" which might harm you and is ILLEGAL…

Will you get more wrinkles if you start using anti-aging products at 14?

August 28, 2009 - 3:10 pm 2 Comments

I heard that you’re supposed to use anti-aging products when you’re young to prevent wrinkles, but if you start too early will it be too harsh on your skin?

I don’t think it’s harsh on your skin, but I don’t think you need chemical peels or anything drastic. That could be bad. Also, some of the heavier anti-wrinkle creams have too much moisture/oil for young skin and that can cause outbreaks.

If I were you I would just focus on keeping your skin acne free and using sunblock. Those two do the most damage and can be prevented.

I’m a sophomore in high school who is interested in getting more fit because, let’s be honest, I’m not that active. BUT! I would like to change that. I saw Physiology of Fitness in the curriculum book and thought it might be a good idea for me, but what exactly would I be doing for that half-year course? Would be it be hands on fitness in the weight room, or just teaching or a combination of both? What’s up?

What is the health disadvantage to having extra melanin in your body?

August 28, 2009 - 3:10 pm 2 Comments

For my biology class we get bonus points if we find out what the HEALTH disadvantage to having extra melanin (eumelanin) in the body is. I’ve searched everywhere and cannot find the answer. The only information I did find is cosmetological reasons for complications with laser surgery. But I need the health reason. Any help will be greatly greatly appreciated.
-Thankyou,
Ava
P.S.
I need the major reason why it is a disadvantage.

As a component in the skin it protects against uv damage leading to skin cancer and also premature aging of the skin, this should be listed in the physiology text, check the index.

Is it possible to get good at sports with a late start?

August 28, 2009 - 3:10 pm 3 Comments

Well, I like most sports, but I suck at them because for whatever reason I didnt care for them until I was about 13-14 and therefore havent been playing any of them when most people were. Still, everyone else has had about 4+ more years of experience then me, do I even have a small chance of catching up? I literally know nothing about most sports; I dont even watch most of them on tv. Yikes, I know, but if Im devoted do I have a chance?

depends on which sport.
if it’s football/soccer/baseball- you can do it
if it’s something like having to do w/ your flexibility- i.e. gymnastics/kung fu- no

go get buff and learn the techniques, you’ll do fine.
i started kung fu when I was 13 and raped blue belts while I was like an orange belt. if u put ur mind n body into it, you’ll do well.
